Detectives investigating the assault of an 18-year-old female in the Montgomery Street Park area last month have made an arrest. The incident went down on Tuesday, 29 April 2025, and police patrols in the area were kicked up a notch. An appeal for information was put out around that time and today, Wednesday 21 May 2025, officers spilled the beans that a 31-year-old man has been arrested and charged. He’s set to show up at Edinburgh Sheriff Court tomorrow. A police spokesperson spilled the tea, saying: “A 31-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with a serious sexual assault in Edinburgh. On Tuesday, 29 April, we got a report of an assault on an 18-year-old woman in the Montgomery Street Park area of the capital. The man is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Thursday, 22 May, 2025.”
Who Made the Arrest and When?
John Hislop graduated from Telford College back in 2010 with an HNC in Practical Journalism. Since then, he’s put in work for the North Edinburgh News, The Southern Reporter, the Irish News Review, and The Edinburgh Reporter. He even got his stuff published in the Edinburgh Evening News and the Hibernian FC Programme. Now, he’s diving into the nitty-gritty details of the arrest made in connection with the assault on the young woman in Montgomery Street Park.
Why Did It Take So Long to Make an Arrest?
Not really sure why this matters, but there was a bit of a gap between the assault on the 18-year-old female and the actual arrest of the 31-year-old man. Maybe it’s just me, but I feel like things moved a bit slow on this one. However, the important thing is that an arrest has been made and justice will hopefully be served. It’s a relief to know that the authorities are taking action and working to ensure the safety of the community. Let’s hope this arrest leads to a conviction and brings some closure to the victim and her loved ones.
