Construction has begun on a new pub in Gorgie, as Brass Monkey revealed plans to open another venue. The popular Brass Monkey, known as one of the largest local pubs in Edinburgh, recently acquired the well-known Jessie May’s bar and kitchen on Gorgie Road. This new pub will be the fourth addition to the Brass Monkey chain, joining their existing locations on Leith Walk, Drummond Street, the Shore, and the Grange.
Although an official opening date has not yet been announced, a sign in the window of the new venue teases the arrival of Brass Monkey Gorgie in the near future. The exterior of the building has been freshly painted in a vibrant yellow color, making it stand out on the street. Inside, there are signs of activity as boxes and small benches have been placed outside, with some blinds left open. Despite the changes, the original signs for Jessie May’s still remain, serving as a reminder of the venue’s past as The Station Bar and later The Station Tavern.
Brass Monkey pubs are a popular choice for both locals and tourists alike, offering a selection of local beers, hosting comedy nights, and organizing lively pub quizzes. The expansion of the Brass Monkey chain to Gorgie is sure to attract a new wave of customers eager to experience the unique atmosphere and entertainment that the pub is known for.
As the construction progresses and the opening date draws near, many are eagerly anticipating the arrival of Brass Monkey Gorgie and the addition of another vibrant social hub to the Edinburgh pub scene. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting development in the heart of Gorgie.
