A disabled veteran in Edinburgh was attacked by two men with a metal pole while walking his dog in an unprovoked incident. George MacDonald, a former army physical training instructor, was walking his German Shepherd Kaiser in East Graveyard, Arbroath, when he was assaulted. The attack left George with cuts and bruises on his arm, back, and stomach, as well as intensified his mental health issues, including PTSD.

George, who has been using a walking stick since being medically discharged from the army, now fears for his life and is unable to walk Kaiser in the area where the attack occurred. He has sought treatment from Veterans First Point in Dundee and has enrolled Kaiser in K-9 family protection training for added security.

The two men involved in the attack are still at large, with the police continuing their investigation. One of the men is described as 6ft tall with a stocky build and the other as over 6ft with a thin build. They were both seen wearing distinctive clothing at the time of the attack.

Police Scotland has urged anyone with information about the incident to come forward and assist with their enquiries. The investigation is ongoing, and no arrests have been made as of yet. If you have any information regarding this assault, please contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting crime reference CR/295295/24.

It is important to remember the sacrifices made by veterans like George MacDonald and to ensure their safety and well-being in our communities. Acts of violence against individuals, especially those who have served their country, are unacceptable and must be met with swift justice. Hopefully, with the help of the public and the authorities, those responsible for this heinous attack will be brought to justice and George MacDonald can find some peace and closure after this traumatic incident.
