Police are currently investigating a burnt-out car that they believe is connected to a brutal ‘machete’ attack on the Daniel crime group in the midst of an ongoing gang war in Edinburgh. The charred remains of an Audi were discovered on Boswell Drive on Monday, May 19, just two hours after two men were rushed to the hospital following the violent incident involving machetes. Authorities revealed on Tuesday, May 20, that they suspect the vehicle is linked to the knife attack in East Kilbride, as reported by the Daily Record. The officers are on the lookout for a group of masked attackers who allegedly assaulted a 45-year-old man and a 41-year-old man at Robert Daniel’s business, resulting in injuries that required medical attention. One victim was admitted to the nearby University Hospital Hairmyres, while the other was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow.
The accident repair shop, owned by Robert Daniel Snr, located on Wilson Place in East Kilbride, was thoroughly searched by the police as the investigation unfolded yesterday afternoon. The torched Audi A5 was later discovered in Blantyre, neighboring town of East Kilbride, on Boswell Drive, where images of the severely damaged vehicle illustrate the extent of the destruction. Detective Superintendent Martin McGhee stated, “We reckon this was a targeted attack. Based on our initial inquiries, we believe the car that was set ablaze was also used in the earlier serious assault.” He urged anyone who may have witnessed either of these incidents to come forward promptly. Additionally, individuals with CCTV, doorbell, or dash-cam footage were asked to reach out, as it could potentially aid in the investigation. McGhee reassured the local community, saying, “We get that these incidents might be alarming, but rest assured, we will ensure those responsible face justice.”
The turmoil unfolded following reports that the Daniel crime clan is currently at the top of Ross McGill’s hit list, a gangster based in Dubai, as he wages a violent war in Scotland. McGill, also known as “Mr. Big,” has been orchestrating a string of attacks across the country since March, allegedly in retaliation for being swindled in a £500k cocaine deal by Edinburgh figure Mark Richardson. The feud escalated from Edinburgh to Glasgow when the Daniel mob came under fire due to their close ties with Richardson. McGill, a former Rangers ultra and Union Bears leader, has reportedly put up £100k bounties for the heads of his main targets. The escalating conflict has caused tensions to rise within the criminal underworld, leaving authorities grappling with the fallout of these violent confrontations.
