A stunning Edinburgh ‘city nook’ has appeared on Scotland’s Home of the Year 2025. Devin Blackie, 29, has always had a keen interest in interior design and made sure to put her skills into practise when it came to her home in Stockbridge. Homeowners Devin and Max moved into the property in 2021 and worked together to create a bold, bright and colourful abode in the capital. The pair put a lot of time into decorating their home to make sure they were happy with the finished result. Judged by Anna Campbell-Jones, Banjo Beale and Danny Campbell, Rebecca and Derek will be battling it out with other contestants across the country to be crowned Scotland’s Home of the Year 2025.Speaking to Edinburgh Live, Devin said: “We got the flat back in January 2021 – it was around covid time which was the perfect moment to go all in on a renovation. “We didn’t have any holidays planned or anything, so we had a lot of time to get it how we wanted it. When this flat came up – we saw the potential in it straight away.”We did all the interior together. My partner is a joiner and carpenter and he does house renovations and things. “I am so lucky to have him, but I definitely was his best and worst client. I have always been interested in interiors – there have been a lot of people in my life who have got really great style and a good taste. “I am really drawn to very bold colourful things, so naturally its the same for interiors for me. I pick up inspiration from everywhere.”The 29-year-old is a huge fan of the BBC show and said the experience was ‘totally unexpected’. A pal sent me the casting call when I was on the sofa with a glass of wine. It’s been so surreal to go from that to seeing our home on the tv. “It was totally unexpected for us. I am a fan of the show – it’s definitely my go to when I am trying to figure out what I am trying to watch.”Scotland’s Home of the Year will be on BBC Scotland channel and iPlayer at 8.30pm on Monday, May 5.
