Scotland’s top Christmas light display has been named ahead of the festive period. The countdown to Christmas has begun, with many already getting stuck into planning parties and festive shopping – even though we still have Halloween to get through. Before we know it, Christmas will be upon us.

Prime Casino has revealed the UK’s six most popular festive light displays. The experts considered various factors when putting together the list, including the number of articles and social media posts about each display. Edinburgh’s Christmas at the Botanics took the number one spot on the list. Situated at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, the annual award-winning light trail will run from November 21 to December 30. The attraction will feature various light displays, including flickering candles, color-changing lights, and a sea of rainbow-colored lights. Children can even meet Father Christmas at the event.

Visitors can also enjoy seasonal snacks like spiced winter warmers, hot chocolate, and toasted marshmallows at the food and drink vendors along the trail. According to Prime Casino, Christmas at the Botanics has been a hit on social media, with over 5,000 posts on Instagram and 136 on TikTok. The display also received positive press coverage, earning an overall rating of 7.0.

In comparison, London’s Oxford Street Christmas lights, which have a similar rating of 7.0, fell behind the Edinburgh display in terms of social media mentions. Oxford Street’s lights, featured in 2,510 articles, are a highlight of the English capital’s Christmas celebrations. Approximately 300,000 lights will illuminate the famous street in 2024.

The remaining top festive light displays are all located in London, including Christmas at Kew, the Regent Street Christmas Lights, Christmas in Covent Garden, and the Carnaby Street Christmas lights. If you’re looking to experience the magic of Christmas at the Botanics, you can find more information on the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh website.
