Gemma Teague Honors the Memory of Anne Henderson
Gemma Teague, an advanced physiotherapy practitioner, is set to complete the Boston Marathon in memory of her colleague Anne Henderson, who tragically lost her battle with a glioblastoma at the age of 51. Anne, a shining light in their team, was diagnosed with the aggressive brain tumour only six months before her passing in May 2018. Survived by her husband and three daughters, Anne’s untimely death left a void in the hearts of her loved ones and colleagues.
From Devastation to Determination
Gemma, deeply affected by Anne’s passing, felt compelled to honor her memory and contribute to the fight against glioblastomas. Learning about the opportunity to run the Boston Marathon for Brain Tumour Research through BBC Scotland’s Glenn Campbell, Gemma saw it as fate intertwining her marathon journey with Anne’s courageous battle.
A Journey of Hope and Legacy
Completing major marathons in London, Berlin, Chicago, and Tokyo, Gemma’s journey to run the Boston Marathon symbolizes her dedication to raising funds for a new Scottish Brain Tumour Research Centre of Excellence. The funds raised will support research into glioblastomas, aiming to establish Scotland as a leader in this critical area of cancer research.
An Inspiring Legacy
Gemma’s commitment to honoring Anne’s legacy through her marathon efforts showcases the power of human connection and the enduring impact of those we’ve lost. As she prepares to take on this incredible challenge, Gemma’s story serves as a reminder of the strength found in unity, compassion, and unwavering determination to make a difference in the face of adversity.
