Georgia Lamey, a mother of three, shared her incredible birthing experience where she amazed midwives by delivering the largest baby they had ever seen. Her son, Jonah, weighed an astonishing 11lbs 11oz at birth, surprising everyone with his size. Despite being told that Jonah would be around 10lbs, he came out as heavy as a medium-sized bowling ball.
Due to Jonah’s larger size, Georgia and her husband had to skip newborn clothes and go straight for three-month-old outfits. This was not the first time the couple had big babies, as their first two children were also born around 10lbs. Georgia mentioned that during her pregnancy, she was told that Jonah was cooking to the “perfect weight,” but his actual size still caught everyone off guard.
Georgia originally hoped for a home birth but had to be rushed to the hospital once her waters broke. She faced some challenges during childbirth as Jonah had shoulder dystocia and got a bit stuck. When he was finally born, everyone in the room was amazed by his size. Georgia even had to hand him over to his dad because he was so heavy she couldn’t hold him for long.
Throughout their hospital stay, Jonah became the center of attention, with other midwives coming to meet the 5.3kg baby. Georgia mentioned that many midwives told her it was the largest baby they had seen in their careers. Even the clothes they had packed for Jonah were too small, forcing them to dress him in clothes meant for older babies.
Now, at 12 weeks old, Jonah has already outgrown his three-month-old clothes and is comfortably wearing six to nine-month outfits. Georgia shared that she felt like Jonah was going to burst out of her belly towards the end of her pregnancy, highlighting the incredible capabilities of the human body.
Despite being mistaken for an eight-month-old, Jonah has become the talk of the town, with people visiting Georgia’s home just to catch a glimpse of the adorable giant baby. Georgia and her husband are eagerly waiting to find out if Jonah holds the record for being the largest baby born at the hospital this year.
