Wild Cairns, an exciting new outdoor activity center in East Lothian, is gearing up to open its doors to the public on Saturday, September 21. Located in Tranent, this premier facility offers a wide range of exhilarating activities, including over 30 assault course obstacles, axe-throwing, and a zombie-themed airsoft range. The center is suitable for individuals aged eight and up, providing a thrilling experience for families and adventure seekers alike.

The idea for Wild Cairns was conceived by Co-Directors Scott Smith and Angus McLeod, who wasted no time in bringing their vision to life once they received approval in August. The duo has been working tirelessly to ensure that the activity center is ready for its grand opening. Scott Smith shared, “We have set our opening date for Saturday, September 21st, and our activity center will be officially opened by Lord Provost John McMillan at noon. We are almost sold out for the opening day, with a few slots remaining for Sunday, September 22. We can’t wait to see everyone enjoying our facilities and leaving with smiles on their faces.”

The center boasts a variety of activities designed to challenge and entertain participants of all ages. From rope swings and high walls to slides and a four-meter-high cargo net, Wild Cairns offers a diverse array of obstacles to conquer. Scott emphasized the benefits of assault courses, stating, “Assault courses offer numerous benefits, such as improving physical fitness, building confidence, enhancing teamwork skills, and boosting mental health through outdoor exercise. Our course is designed for both adults and children from the age of eight upwards, ensuring fun and fitness for the whole family.”

Angus McLeod added, “As seasoned obstacle course participants, with over 150 races between us, we have always wanted to have our own venue to get people outdoors and enjoy the sport we are very passionate about. It not only is great fun but can also help build confidence and boost mental health by working out in the great outdoors.” The center aims to create a positive and engaging environment where individuals can push their boundaries and experience the thrill of outdoor adventure.

In addition to the assault course, Wild Cairns offers axe-throwing and a zombie-themed airsoft range, providing unique experiences for visitors looking to test their skills and have a blast. The activities are sure to appeal to thrill-seekers and those seeking an adrenaline-fueled outing with friends or family. With a focus on safety and enjoyment, the center promises a memorable and exciting experience for all who visit.

With the opening just around the corner, Scott and Angus are excited to see their hard work come to fruition. Scott shared, “After months of planning, meetings, and finally building everything, we can’t wait to get Active Outdoors. Our company ethos is that everyone goes away with a smile, and we can’t wait to see those smiles.” The duo’s dedication to creating a welcoming and engaging space for outdoor enthusiasts is evident in every aspect of Wild Cairns.
